About me
I’m Lisa Robinson-Grindey. I have been around horses and riding horses since I was 3. I can still remember my parents asking me if I wanted to do ballet or ride horses and I knew then that dancing was not even an option!
My love affair began with these magnificent creatures, trying to encourage tired old ponies over jumps and spending every weekend working free of charge at yards in exchange for rides. After a pause during my teenage years, where men seemed more magnificent, (yes I was naive) I realised my affinity to these creatures had not left me and now I was in a position where I could loan a horse! How exciting! Of course the next logical step was to own a horse. How expensive!
One thing that seemed to happen as I got older is that I was drawn to
horses, and other animals, that had problems or issues – I nearly
always ended up with sensitive, temperamental mares who needed much more than just being ridden.
During this time I experienced a lot of my own health problems and started to investigate complimentary medicines. When I found Reiki, I felt I’d rediscovered something I already knew. It is such a difficult thing to describe but my ability to heal made sense, not on any logical level, just in my core – I felt like I’d come home. Very trite, but very true. Level 1 helped me to help myself hugely and then I went on to use it to help friends and family. Looking back, this time was the most valuable as I lernt and developed so much.
The puzzle finally came together when I instinctively just laid my hands on a horse one day – it seemed so natural and the horse took to it with such acceptance that I knew I had touched upon a wonderful phenomena.
As with everything I do, I had to research this immediately!! I found Sarah, an expert in Equine Reiki in Peterborough, and contacted her, and so my journey began...
I continued my training, reikied many more horses and people and just kept developing, devouring every book i could get my hands on I then knew it was time to set up – Horse and Rider Reiki.
Reiki is life changing. I stand by that. It can take some people a little time before they are able to find the correlation between the changes and the Reiki, and this realisation illicits reactions such as ‘Wow, I never knew what an effect it had until now’. Others immediately understand that it is helping. Personally, it never fails to amaze me. When people speak of reiki being a gift they are right. The gift, however is not solely mine, but I feel incredibly lucky being privileged enough to be able to practice this - the most amazing job in the world.
If you would like to train in Reiki:
I am a Reiki Master and train at all levels, both Human and Equine. There is a requirement for everyone to complete Reiki I before they can go on to train in an Equine course.
